Priyanka Chopra: KAMINEY is far removed from what I have ever done

Looks do matter. Especially when the female in question is Priyanka Chopra. She was a stunner in her last two successful outings at the box office - DOSTANA and FASHION. If in the former she was the editor of a fashion magazine, in the latter she was a show- stopper herself.
Of course, all shows stopped at her arrival but she decided to take a different route altogether in her films to follow. She decided to be choosy about her work and picked on only two projects, KAMINEY and WHAT'S YOUR RASHEE. What makes KAMINEY special is the fact that she got to work with director Vishal Bhardwaj, a master story teller when it comes to real cinema, and known for giving his leading ladies an entirely different look.
While speculations were abound about Priyanka Chopra's appearance in KAMINEY, the first look of which is currently out and is already creating quite some buzz, her hardcore Marathi girl act put a full stop over them.

Coming across as a bindaas girl who is also traditional to the core (watch her doing those typical Maharashtrian dance steps and you will know), Priyanka seems to be on a complete tangent if one remembers her ultra chic and glam avtar in the films that she has been seen in over the years.
Agrees Priyanka for whom KAMINEY will be her first release of 2009 as a leading lady (after a hectic 2008 which saw her featuring in six back to back releases - LOVE STORY 2050, GOD TUSSI GREAT HO, CHAMKU, DRONA, FASHION and DOSTANA). ''In terms of look, it's definitely not ultra glamorous. In fact, you don't really see me wearing too much make up in the film'', she says.

Even Shahid Kapoor seems to be enjoying his double role stint in the film where one of the characters played by him not just stammers but also keeps an unkempt look. 'Reality' is what Vishal Bhardwaj has ensured in his characters and the same holds good for Priyanka Chopra too who plays the role of Sweety.
''Sweety is a very real character. She is a college going girl in her early 20s and we have tried to keep her extremely believable'', says Priyanka who played a young woman in her late 20s in her last release DOSTANA, ''We tried to ensure that the look fit the characterization.''
Since in both FASHION and DOSTANA Priyanka was seen in a glam avatar, did she have any apprehensions about donning an entirely distinct look in KAMINEY?

''Not at all'', Priyanka is quick to react, ''It was a conscious decision. I have always strived to do different things in each and every film of mine, be it with the character or the look. That's visible in films like DON, LOVE STORY 2050, FASHION and DOSTANA. In continuation of that, KAMINEY and WHAT'S YOUR RASHEE will see me essaying different characters, far removed what I have ever played. I am very excited about both!''
Well, we too are excited about seeing you in these films. If the teaser of KAMINEY has managed to create such an impact, one can be rest assured that there would be a lot to look forward to in the entire film as well.
With both Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra seemingly going for a makeover and giving an altogether new account of themselves, the wait begins for this film which is all set to arrive at theaters on 26th June.
