Not many film makers brave going against the tide but Madhur Bhandarkar is busy filming his latest film, JAIL, in a unique manner. The prison drama is being shot in a chronological order i.e. every scene will be shot in the same order in which it will eventually appear in the final print.

The National Award winning director had experimented the same style in his last film FASHION as well and as someone who loves reinventing himself with each film of his, he was mighty pleased with the final results.

Confirms Madhur who is exploring a male centric subject with JAIL, ''Yes, each of the scenes is being shot in exactly the same order as they will be seen in the film. Even if this means revisiting the same locations after some intervals, I am okay with that. I tried doing this in FASHION where I had to flip-flop between different cities & sets but the effort was worth it.''

But why the effort when in a single schedule, one can utilize the same location for shooting scenes spread over the narrative and hence save some time and money?

''It's a creative field and sometimes benefits are more implicit rather than explicit'', reasons Madhur, ''The film warrants such a graph where the characters have to sustain similar emotions for a period of time.''

He further explains the logic behind his approach, ''I don't want my actors to bring a turnaround in mood and emotions just so that we can utilize the same locations. I would rather have them in a frame of mind of the character they are enacting and give their 200%.''
