RISHI KAPOOR

RISHI KAPOOR

It was way back in 1970 that Rishi Kapoor played the role of younger Raj Kapoor in MERA NAAM JOKER. One of the leading ladies in the film was Russian artist Kseniya Ryabinkina who played Raj Kapoor's love interest in the second chapter of the epic love story cum drama.

Now 40 years later, Rishi Kapoor will be coming together with Kseniya Ryabinkina in CHINTU JI, a film which is partially based on his life. Interestingly, the film's name is derived from Rishi Kapoor's nickname - Chintu.

Confirms Rishi Kapoor, ''Kseniya (Ryabinkina) will be seen again in CHINTU JI. Incidentally this will be only her second Hindi film since she appeared in MERA NAAM JOKER. In CHINTU JI, she has a very pivotal role to play as she brings along immense metamorphosis in the life of the character that I play.''

CHECK OUT: Rishi Kapoor returns as a politician in CHINTU JI

In MERA NAAM JOKER, Kseniya had played the role of a Russian trapeze artist with whom the character played by Raj Kapoor falls in love. However, the two couldn't unite which left Raj Kapoor heartbroken.

Though in MERA NAAM JOKER, Rishi Kapoor had scenes only with Simi Grewal while it was Raj Kapoor who had closer interaction with Kseniya Ryabinkina, CHINTU JI will see the two of them sharing screen space together.

''It was a surreal experience because I was just a kid in MERA NAAM JOKER. I guess it was a great idea to get her on board in CHINTU JI which is a film that is part fiction, part reality and part illusion when it comes to being based on my life'', Rishi Kapoor says in a nostalgic tone here.
