2009 wasn't really a year when a single debutant, whether male or female, made a smashing debut. In fact in a year laden with flops, there was not a single film starring newcomers which managed to do super hit business. No wonder, the debutant list isn't as impressive as it was during couple of years back when Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonam Kapoor and Prateik Babbar made a mark.

Mahie Gill (DEV D, GULAAL, AAGEY SE RIGHT, PAL PAL DIL KE SSAAT)
Mahie may well hold the record for being a debutant with the most number of releases in a single year. Other than DEV D, where she managed to catch everyone's attention, she was also seen in Anurag Kashyap's next GULAAL. Her uncanny resemblance with Smita Patil notwithstanding, she is a complete natural and one would love to see more of her.
