Rishi: Actors are the most overpaid frauds

Move aside the romantic newbies of tinsel Ville, the original 'Prince of Romance' - Rishi Kapoor is back. And he's not alone! Accompanying him are yesteryear heroines with whom he once formed the hottest onscreen jodis over three decades - including BOBBY heart-throb Dimple Kapadia, Bol RADHA BOL co-star Juhi Chawla and his on-screen and off-screen sweetheart, wife Neetu Singh who's making a comeback alongside Rishi after 26 years in not one, but two films.

Admitting that he's as excited about working with his former leading ladies today as he was back then, Rishi says, ''It's a sheer co-incidence that I'm working with my heroines from the 70s, 80s and 90s in 2009, but it's a beautiful one. It's good to be able to work with them again.'' While wife Neetu will play his wife in Habib Faizal's DO DOONI CHAR and then again in the Saif Ali Khan-produced untitled Imtiaz Ali film, Juhi was seen playing his wife in the recent Zoya Akhtar film LUCK BY CHANCE that also starred Dimple.

Incidentally, in DELHI 6, Rishi shares screen space with veteran actress Waheeda Rahman with whom he'd worked in films like KABHIE KABHIE, COOLIE and CHANDNI, albeit as a son. All praises for Juhi, Rishi says, ''It's always such a delight working with Juhi. We had a fun time shooting together. And it feels great to know that the audiences have loved us together as much as they had done back then.'' As for Neetu facing the arc lights once again, he adds, ''Our daughter Riddhima is well settled, Ranbir's career is going good, so we thought it was the right time for Neetu to come back.''

CHECK OUT: RISHI KAPOOR Interview

The couple has just started shooting for DO DOONI CHAR and Rishi reveals, ''Neetu was very nervous as the day of the shoot approached and so was I for her. But she did just great. The children are also very excited.'' As for the role that Rishi likes Neetu the most in, he says, ''It's hard to say any one. She's a fabulous actor, a fantastic mother and a loving wife. She always was and will always be my fave co-star.''

On a roll with three films back to back and another five under his belt, Rishi says, ''It's going to be a year to watch out for. There's an insatiable child in me wanting to learn and imbibe new things in life. I am hungry for work and I am glad to be doing the kind of films that I am doing; from playing this over-the-top producer to a Maths professor and from playing myself in CHINTOOJI to a vital role in DELHI 6.''

A far cry from his romantic hero image that he had reaffirmed in a recent film with Dimple! Mention this and he quickly avers, ''Oh come on, give me a break. I'm 56 years of age and I'm finally getting to play characters that don't require me to dance around trees romancing my heroines. I had done only that in my younger days. All that is a thing of past and I believe in looking ahead. I'm really enjoying this phase.''
