42 KMS (earlier titled MARATHON) has been ready for quite some time but was on the backburner for a while now. However, the film was revived in December last year and the release date of 9th January was set. However, as things stand today, the film has been pushed further by a fortnight and would now be arriving on 23rd January.

Confirms a source attached to the film, '42 KMS is a big film for us and though due to various reasons we couldn't bring it earlier, now we are gung-ho about it's prospects. In a resurgent India, it is quite important to have a film like this release. It also becomes much more contemporary and meaningful in the current times when every Indian has to stay united and together be a force. 42 KMS is about the victory of undying spirit of every Indian and that's the expectation we wish to convey to our audience.'

Due to good pre-release reports about the film, the makers chose to bring 42 KMS to theaters only when best show timings were made available.

'That's right; it's a clutter out there on 9th January. Since no film released on the first Friday of the year, all film makers are lining up for 9th January. Last we heard, there are as many as nine films (both in Hindi and English) that are occupying majority of screens on this day. We didn't want to be a part of this crowd and hence opted for a week later', says the film's spokesperson.
Now, 42 KMS would have RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES for company on 23rd January.
