Shekhar Ravjiani: I instinctively knew that 'Yeh Zindagi Bhi' (LBC) was special

Shekhar Ravjiani, of Vishal-Shekhar fame, has sung many a songs during last six years. Starting with JHANKAAR BEATS, he has come behind the mike for songs in films like HOME DELIVERY, BLUFFMASTER, TAXI NUMBER 9211, GOLMAAL, I SEE YOU, HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD., CASH, DE TAALI and BACHNA AE HASEENO. However, the common thread in each of these films is that they have been composed by Vishal and Shekhar themselves.
While Vishal Dadlani has sung for outside composers, mainly with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and occasionally Pritam, Shekhar Ravjiani has been exclusive to his own compositions. However, with LUCK BY CHANCE, he has broken the rules and consented to sing for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

So what prompted him to do revisit his stance?
"Well, it wasn't a rule that I had set for myself but then the song had to be extra special. When Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy came to me with 'Yeh Zindagi Bhi', I instinctively knew that it was special. It's a soft number and since Javed Akhtar has written it, there is an intrinsic lyrical quality to it as well," says Shekhar Ravjiani Shekhar who is a trained classical singer and has a sound base of Indian music.
He is right in his comment though because 'Yeh Zindagi Bhi' is indeed one of the best songs in LUCK BY CHANCE. It flows with the mood of the entire album and doesn't allow the narrative to deviate at all. Moreover, Shekhar's subtle voice imparts a soft flavor to the soundtrack, hence allowing the album to stay consistent from start to finish.
