RANN to be ready by mid-2009

One of the most anticipated films of 2009 is turning out to be RANN. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, it is also special because not just it looks at exposing media, it also brings back Amitabh Bachchan with Ram Gopal Varma after SARKAR RAJ. In addition, the film also boasts of an enviable star cast comprising of Paresh Rawal, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Sudeep, Rajat Kapoor, Manisha Koirala and Gul Panag.
Now add another huge name to the project, Madhu Mantena, the man who produced the biggest money spinner of all times GHAJINI.

Producer Madhu Mathena has teamed up with his first cousin Ram Gopal Varma for the film. Says Madhu Mathena, "I could have basked in the glory of GHAJINI. However, I thought that it would be wise to move ahead with other projects. Besides Abbas Tyrewala's John Abraham starrer 1-800-LOVE, the shooting of which is on in full swing, I am now also now a part of Amitabh Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh starrer RANN."
In fact GHAJINI has already crossed 110 crores at the box office and still going strong after spending exactly a month at the box office.
Coming back to RANN and 1-800-LOVE, both the films will be ready in the first half of the year. Meanwhile Madhu Mantena is already in talks with a couple of leading directors with whom he would be beginning work on other projects soon. "That's right; there should soon be announcements around these. Stay tuned", smiles Madhu.

Meanwhile Ram Gopal Varma says that he always had Madhu in mind for RANN. Even though success of GHAJINI has made Madhu Mantena a much known name today, Ramu was always interested in working with him again (incidentally the two had worked together earlier in a some projects few years back).
"We always wanted to do a film together. Also I needed someone who would look after the monetary aspects and there could be nobody better then my cousin Madhu", says Ramu. The shooting of the film is expected to kick start soon and one eagerly now looks forward to the release of RANN in the second half of 2009.
