Anupam Kher's SAARANSH (1984) announced to the world about the arrival of one of the finest and most versatile actors post the 80s. The director was Mahesh Bhatt in one of his best forms. Many questioned the wisdom of the actor from Shimla deciding to play an old man in his first prominent role and at such an early stage of his career. But the rest, as they say, is history as Anupam went on to essay a variety of roles and enacted almost every character on screen! There are many instances where Anupam was at his romantic best, and at the same time mean and menacing and made the audience roll out laughing with his comic time, all in the same year. He even played a loveable gay character in MAST KALANDAR!
