Arshad rues working in HULCHUL most

As per Arshad Warsi, when HULCHUL was narrated to him, he was put under the impression that he would be reprising a role similar to that of Akshay Kumar in HERA PHERI. While Akshaye Khanna (now his co-star in SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON) was supposed to be playing a simpleton in the Priyadarshan directed film, Arshad was promised that he too would have an equally promising role.
''I learnt my lesson soon after'', Arshad can afford to laugh now, ''I realized that being 'one of the two friends' is different from 'being someone's friend'. I had been made to understand that I and Akshaye were playing two friends in HULCHUL. However, as it turned out, I was 'just' playing his friend.''
Out of numerous movies that he has done in the past, Arshad Warsi rues working on HULCHUL even though it was a Priyadarshan directed film.

''During narration the film did sound all exciting due to the reason as I stated above'', he says, ''I thought that since Akshay Kumar had such a brilliantly written and enacted part in HERA PHERI, I too would get to benefit from a similar role. After all my character had to give all the bad ideas to Akshaye, most of which flopped.''
First day on the sets of HULCHUL and Arshad realized that he had made a mistake by agreeing to work in the huge multi starrer that also included the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Suneil Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Paresh Rawal and Amrish Puri amongst others.

''In HULCHUL I had a bad role. Period. However, I had a commitment and had to abide by it. Even though I knew every day that I was doing things completely different from what I had presumed, I carried on'', remembers Arshad.
No wonder Arshad and Priyadarshan never worked together again. However, Arshad who has always been known as a man with an amazing comic timing, has now come together with Neeraj Vora who has written quite a few of Priyadarshan hits in the past that include BHAGAM BHAG, GARAM MASALA, HERA PHERI, YEH TERA GHAR YEH MERA GHAR, KYON KI, CHUP CHUP KE, BHOOL BHULAIYAA and of course HULCHUL.
Now in Neeraj Vora directed SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON, Arshad plays the role of a struggling actor who steals Akshaye Khanna's script and goes on to become a superstar.
He says, ''I have always told my directors that 'Please, do not waste me in your film. Squeeze me as much as you can and you will see fantastic results.''
