Minissha Lamba's sexy bikini act in KIDNAP did not fetch her much returns as the film, despite the presence of the latest teenage sensation, Imran Khan and ageless star Sanjay Dutt, failed miserably at the ticket window. But she has been lucky enough to be signed by none other than legendary director, Shyam Benegal, for a de-glam role in his next, ABBA KA KUAAN.

Minissha plays a simple but quite naughty village belle, a real 'gaon ki gori' in Benegal's next and is delighted with the prospect of working for the great director. She admits that working with Benegal was indeed an honour and definitely a learning experience and is hopeful that her role in the film would turn out to be a career defining one. She has recently returned from Hyderabad, after completing the film's shoot and is waiting anxiously for the film to release, as she is very curious to know the reaction of the audience to her new 'avatar', that of a desi village belle.
Benegal's last film, the sleeper hit WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR, had the girl next door, Amrita Rao, playing the role of a simple and easy to manipulate village woman, and Amrita walked away with not only a hit under her belt but was lavished with praises for her natural and heartwarming act. Let's see if Minissha is as successful, and with Shyam Benegal ji at the helm of affairs, nothing is impossible!
