AMITABH BACHCHAN

Bollywood super icon Amitabh Bachchan has vehemently dispelled myths about his ''high and mighty'' image, never consciously trying to project his celebrity image. The love and affection of his fans and the strength & support of the film fraternity has helped sustain his journey over the last four decades.

The actor, who has worked with almost every generation of directors in the country - from Prakash Mehra to Karan Johar, Yash Chopra to Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra has excelled in maintaining & cherishing cordial relations with one & all in the film industry, with an enviable ease. And this is evident from various instances. Be it a promise made to his make-up man of over thirty years, to work in a Bhojpuri film GANGA produced by Sawant (the make-up man) or when he drove to the Shah Rukh's seaside bungalow, to ensure his well-being after Khan underwent a left shoulder surgery despite of the speculations over their supposed ''rivalry''.

CHECK OUT: Amitabh Bachchan gets personal...

Recently he even took out time to visit the ailing veteran filmmaker Prakash Mehra (70) at the Kokilaben Ambani hospital, who is recuperating from his lung-related ailments. If one recalls than, Prakash Mehra's smashing hit ZANJEER had broke the jinx for the then relative newcomer Bachchan which was first offered to Dev Anand, Raaj Kumar and Dharmendra. Amitabh was the final choice for the film that became the turning point in his career, leading to other hits like NAMAK HALAL, SHARAABI, MUQADDAR KA SIKANDAR.

The bighearted Bachchan till date reminisces about their celebrated camaraderie on his blog, ''We made 'music' together Prakash ji and myself. This wizard of a director, now lying inane and without response, eyes open but closed for all purposes, ventilator breathing for him - just so unimaginable. The doctors say he is improving. I hope he recovers well and remains healthy.''
