99 directors on the importance of the number 99!

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the directors of the upcoming 99, starring Vinod Khanna, Kunal Khemu, Soha Ali Khan, Boman Irani and Cyrus Brocha, are keeping their fingers crossed for their first Hindi feature film, 99. Not many will be aware that it was in 1999 that the two had first made a short film, aptly called SHORTS and in 2005, they made their first feature film, an ensemble comedy called FLAVORS.
Raj Nidimoru says, ''The year 1999 was the beginning for us. After we finished writing the film we discovered many other serendipitous signs with the number. For instance, Sachin Tendulkar's jersey for a long time was 99.''

Those following proceedings in Bollywood will know that 99 is about two conmen, Sachin, played by Kunal Khemu and Zaramud, essayed by Cyrus Broacha, who travel to Delhi on an assignment, where they befriend and fall in love with Pooja (Soha Ali Khan).
As per Raj and Krishna, ''The film's title compares the troubles of its lead characters to batsmen who are trying to score a century during a one-day international and are stuck at 99.'' They add, ''The feeling of scoring a century is when you get a standing ovation, for the work that you have put in.''
Right said Raj and Krishna. May you receive a standing ovation for 99 when it releases across theaters, this Friday.
