FROZEN director: I didn't know Shilpa as the CHAK DE girl

Last weekend film maker Shivajee Chandrabhushan's FROZEN had released in select theaters at Mumbai. Those who watched the movie had a surprise in store for them as Shilpa Shukla (more popularly known as the CHAK DE girl Bindiya Naik) made a screen appearance. Though she has a brief appearance in FROZEN, this was one movie that she had shot for years back.
''In fact I don't even know Shilpa as the CHAK DE girl'', says Shivajee who states that Shilpa was roped in for the film as he was looking for a girl who could play the young wife of Danny Denzongpa, the central protagonist of the film, ''I came across Shilpa's photographs and was stunned because I was searching for someone who could have played a similar looking mother for Gauri, my female protagonist. Since their pictures matched, I knew that I had found my lady.''

Apparently he did show the pictures of both the females to Shilpa when she met him for discussing the role and they both agreed that from the looks perspective, it made an easy decision.
''However, I was very clear to her that she had only a few scenes in the movies with no dialogues to mouth'', informs Shivajee, ''She was quite okay with that because she was very excited to work with Danny saab as well as shooting in Ladakh. Soon she was on. Yes, today people know her as the CHAK DE girl but for all of us out there, she was always Shilpa.''
After it's arrival in Mumbai, FROZEN (which has been designed for a platform release) would now be travelling to Delhi and other major cities over next few weeks.
