Though a complete actor, Paresh Rawal has been stuck in comic roles, mostly slapstick, more so in Priyan films. And people have loved him in those roles, but who can forget his intense side in films like Ketan Mehta's SARDAR, TAMANNA, SIR, FIRAAQ, MAHARATHI and MUMBAI MERI JAAN. Well, for all those who want the actor in Paresh to resurface yet again and show his class, its good news, as the versatile actor will be seen in a serious, meaningful film, ROAD TO SANGAM.

In the film, Paresh plays a Gandhivadi Muslim named Hashmatullah, who is a staunch follower of the Gandhian philosophy and wants to do some unique work in the memory of the father of the nation. Naturally, he faces a lot of opposition but goes on to pursue his aim with undivided attention and hard work, and is able to win in the end. Paresh says that the role that he plays is a real life character as it is inspired by a person called Hashmat from Allahabad, and that he has met him in order to understand the complexities of his role. The film is based in Allahabad (also called Sangam), Uttar Pradesh.

As is known, ROAD TO SANGAM, directed by debutant Amit Rai, is to release soon, and the first look of the film, an innovative postcard poster has already set up the tone for its promotion.
