Will Smith's son to be Ashutosh Gowariker's BUDDHA?

Ashutosh Gowariker, who is all set to re-create history quite literally, with his next epic endeavour BUDDHA, has taken the next step to go global just as the scope of the epitome of spirituality, Buddha. It is being said that maverick director, who was on the lookout for a dark-skinned boy for his next has now his heart set on international icon Will Smith's 11-year-old son Jaden Smith. The JODHAA AKBAR director, who was incredibly overwhelmed with the child's role where he played his own dad Will Smith's son in PURSUITS OF HAPPINESS, plans to fly out soon to meet the father and son.

The film, which will be in English, has been written by Oscar winner David Ward. Ashu had mentioned the strong possibility of a foreign actor for the role of Buddha along with other Indian actors. Ashutosh, who is presently finishing the shoot of WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE starring Priyanka Chopra & Hurman Baweja, will most probably start with this new venture by May 2010.

Incidentally, Gowariker had portrayed the life of Buddha in another award winning director Shyam Benegal's popular television series 'Discovery of India', in his earlier days of career. And after knowing this, we are sure the prolific filmmaker, Ashutosh this time too will come out with nothing less than a magnum opus!
