PVR Pictures plans a mega release for NEW MOON

After creating ripples internationally with its record-breaking opening weekend collection, NEW MOON that released on Nov 20th across the world has achieved milestones never seen before. The movie has created a world-wide history by achieving No.1 position through its box office collection of $140.7 million in US. At the international box office, the vampire romancer bowed to $118.1 million for a sparkling worldwide opening total of $258.8 million. THE TWILIGHT SAGA - NEW MOON's release in US has achieved the best single opening day ever surpassing THE DARK KNIGHT ($67.2 million); biggest 2 day total to reach $100 + million ever surpassing THE DARK KNIGHT's 2 day take of $ 114.8 million; biggest November opening in history surpassing HARRY POTTER and THE GOBLET OF FIRE ($102.7 million).

After its phenomenal international success, PVR Pictures is all set to give NEW MOON one of the widest releases in India on 11th December. NEW MOON will be released in the country with over 300 prints and for the first time, PVR Pictures will be releasing a movie in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu as well. Titled as AMAVASYA in Telugu and DIGILAN in Tamil, NEW MOON with its wide release is expected to create a record-breaking stir in India as well.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA has already become a blockbuster book release in India with over 3,00,000 copies of the book that have been sold so far. Hachette India, the publisher of the TWILIGHT series seem confident to add more copies to this number once the movie releases in India.

Commenting on the excitement of the TWILIGHT & NEW MOON releases in India, Deepak Sharma, Head-Distribution (Worldwide), PVR Pictures says, 'The overwhelming response that we have received for TWILIGHT has been extremely encouraging. With record-breaking collections that NEW MOON has achieved internationally in its opening weekend, we are very excited to release it across the country. We are confident that it will break the record set by 2012 and be one of the biggest films of the year.'

The first part of the saga - TWILIGHT released on November 20th in India. It has witnessed a very good opening with over a 60% occupancy ratio on the weekend. PVR Pictures will be releasing the movie not only in metros but also in small centres in the days to come.
