3 IDIOTS: No simultaneous DTH premier

Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 3 IDIOTS is all set for a Christmas release and only three shots remain to be canned in order to complete the movie. However, as per the grapevine, the film has hogged the limelight for the difference of opinion that crept up between the makers and lead actor, Aamir Khan, over the choice of promos.

There was also a buzz that producer Vinod Chopra was quite keen to release 3 IDIOTS simultaneously on DTH (direct-to-home) as well as in the theaters. The recent most film that released very early on since its worldwide release was Salman, Kareena and Sohail's MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA, but apparently that did not do much for the benefit of the film, which has been labeled a trade disaster. But it now seems that even producer Vinod Chopra has apparently backed out from taking this historic step, because if it had indeed happened 3 IDIOTS would have been the first big star cast movie ever in the history of Indian cinema to see a simultaneous release in theaters as well as DTH.
As of now all we can do is wait and watch and we have good news for the fans of Aamir Khan, the film is carrying excellent reports, so this makes the wait all too fruitful.
