LOVE AAJ KAL celebrates 50 days

While all eyes are set on the BIG clash of WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA, one fact that has surprisingly been sidelined is the 50 days run of LOVE AAJ KAL, the biggest money spinner of 2009. Released on 31st July, the film enters its 8th week today and would be enjoying 50 days at the box office.
Considering the fact that there have hardly been any money spinners this year (with an exception of LOVE AAJ KAL, NEW YORK, KAMBAKKHT ISHQ and KAMINEY, all of which released in quick succession), the continued golden run of LOVE AAJ KAL is indeed great news for the industry which has somehow managed to be back on it's feet in the second half of the year.
Netting more than 65 crores just from India, LOVE AAJ KAL took a huge opening at the box office which was next only to GHAJINI. Ever since then the film has stayed on stable grounds with comfortable drop on collections in every passing week.

Of course arrival of WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA followed by WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE a week later would mean that LOVE AAJ KAL would have far lesser shows from here on. However, with the film enjoying the tag of being a bona fide super hit, Saif knocking the doors of the Top-5 league and Imtiaz Ali pretty much making it to the elite list of film makers that we have today, LOVE AAJ KAL has found a place for itself in the biggest successes of 2009.
In addition, Pritam's music too has continued to occupy the top slot at the music stands in spite of more than three dozen albums that have released ever since it's release.
While one waits to see what does Imtiaz have up his sleeves with his next film, it's not as long a wait for Saif fans as his KURBAAN is gearing up for a November release.
