Ashutosh pays more attention to criticism rather than praise!

Ashutosh Gowariker's latest release, KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, may not have taken an earth shattering start but it has indeed, as always, managed to garner much appreciation from the critics as well as the paying audience. That Ashutosh is used to receiving critical acclaim is a known fact, however what will come as surprise to most is that it is not just praise which the maverick director receives with open arms but healthy criticism as well.

The director of films like LAGAAN, SWADES and JODHAA AKBAR disclosed that though like most people he too welcomes accolades and critical acclaim but it's criticism from the critics as well as the audience which he pays more attention to.

Ashutosh explained that whenever he starts a project, there is much debate and brouhaha about it; some criticize his decision while others praise it. Citing the example of choosing Hrithik Roshan to play Akbar in JA, Ashutosh said that people were very critical that an actor like Hrithik could enact the role of Akbar; some also criticized his decision to direct a romantic comedy like WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? He added that it is just people's habit to jump to conclusion but when it comes to healthy criticism he welcomes it wholeheartedly, thinks about it positively and makes it a point to learn from his mistakes so that when he makes a new film he does not make the same mistake.

Indeed we know why Ashutosh is considered amongst the finest directors that the Hindi film industry has produced, and this habit of accepting criticism is something that all can learn from him and become better in their respective fields.
