Ramu gains from RAKHT CHARITRA

RAKHT CHARITRA 2 hasn't done well in Hindi, what with the opening being way below the mark. However in South where the film has its prime market, the film is doing bumper business. Enjoying a good opening in Telugu as well as Tamil, this revenge drama has seen quite a few takers, hence ensuring that there is a lot to cheer about for the makers, despite a setback in Hindi market. This is the reason why they would be enjoying quite a few take-away from the film though.

Says a prominent film maker, "First and foremost, Ram Gopal Varma has seen a revival of credibility in a major way and is back to SARKAR days at the least, if not COMPANY, from industry perception perspective. Since the release of his AAG, Ramu was constantly under scrutiny with each of his outings. Whether it was a multi starrer like SARKAR RAAJ or a small effort like AGYAAT, he had detractors ready to hit him from all quarters."

"He did enjoy a surprise success with PHOONK but his CONTRACT further pegged him back. However, despite RANN being a commercial failure, Ramu was acknowledged again as a film maker who knew what he was talking," he continues, "Now that his RAKHT CHARITRA has done well in Telugu as well as Tamil, Ramu has told the world all over again that he isn't going anywhere. Perhaps, he just willingly experimented by stepping into cinema that was targeted at a region and now that he has tasted success there, he could well be hitting back with a vengeance in quintessential Hindi cinema as well."

With DEPARTMENT being the next film that Ramu will kick start, one can well expect something big on the anvil from this Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer.
