Madhavan: TANU WEDS MANU has the smell of soil

First Look of TANU WEDS MANU is out and suddenly caught the film buffs by surprise. The movie by director Aanand L Rai is looking fresh and is promising to be one of the first successes of 2011. Meanwhile Madhavan, the leading man in the film who is currently in Chennai promoting his latest Tamil release (co-starring Kamal Hassan and Trisha), is aware about the fact that the First Look of the film has seen some massive appreciation for itself and has caught quite a few cine-goers caught unaware

"It is good naa," says Maddy with a smile, "In the times when there are so many slapsticks being made, TANU WEDS MANU is a light hearted film with the kind of humour that is quite refreshing. If you have liked Hrishikesh Mukherjee film then you would like this one as well. It pulls at your heart strings."

Quite positive about the market that TANU WEDS MANU will find for itself, Maddy says, "The film will appeal in a major way to that audience which has been seeing love stories only in metropolis. Nowadays everything is modern and hep with not many films being made that carry with them the smell of the soil. This one does and that is what forms the USP of TANU WEDS MANU."

Elaborating on his long standing desire of being seen in a fun romcom, Madhavan says, "Some think that I want to do only hardcore dramas. That is not the fact. I myself want to do such masti films myself provided the narrative retains a certain sensibility to it. What makes TANU WEDS MANU stand out is the fact that it is not a hardcore comedy per se but is instead a smile-through film with a lot of romance and drama to it."

The film releases all over on 25th February.
