Is A FLAT similar to BHOOT?

Jimmy Sheirgill is readying for the release of his first ever horror film, A FLAT. Though he has earlier been seen in CHODHON NAA YAAR (which again belonged to horror genre), he insists that A FLAT is far more complete and is one movie which truly belongs to the horror genre. However, one can't deny the fact that the film carries an uncanny resemblance with BHOOT, the Ajay Devgn-Urmila Matondkar starrer, which was again set in a flat in upmarket Mumbai.

"The only thing similar between our film and the Ram Gopal Varma directed BHOOT is that both have been set in an apartment," says Jimmy who has now gone ultra selective in his choice of Hindi films, "Other than that, there is absolutely no connection between the two films."

Continuing with his denial, Jimmy shares his reasoning, "While the storylines of both the films are different, even the central protagonist, the ghost, has a different role to play. In BHOOT, the ghost was seen only in the interval point. On the other hand in A FLAT, you can feel the presence of something supernatural right through the narrative."

"Having said that, due to the urban setting of both the films and most part of the shooting being confined to the four walls of a flat, the comparisons with BHOOT would be inevitable," he adds.

Also starring Sanjay Suri, Kaveri Jha and Hazel in principal roles, A FLAT is a co-production of Anjum Rizvi and Raaj Varma and releases on 12th November.
