Karan Johar: I don't deserve an appreciation

The newest season of 'Koffee with Karan' is on and though quite a few have given a big thumbs-up to the show, there is an obvious line up of detractors as well. A few may term it as voyeuristic and for some it may be a little too designed. However, it is certainly not being ignored, something which is pleasing enough for Karan and Co.

However, in the midst of all the feedback coming in, Karan does feel saddened by the fact that in an industry like Bollywood which is made of just a few hundred people, there is no more the kind of brotherhood that existed in the days of his father Yash Johar.

"Regardless of the kind of success that you, I or someone else may be enjoying, there is always a sense of cynicism that we carry", sighs Karan, "It is so sad that if someone or something is down and out, we feel elated about that and go all out in spreading a word. However, we are not there for the each other's highs. We simply don't love the success of others. That's quite saddening."

His comment comes with a good back up behind it. It is a known fact that especially during last few months; Karan has been quite appreciative about the films made by his peers, whether they have been friends or colleagues. However, the same hasn't been the case with his films and work as a host which despite finding appreciation from audience hasn't quite seen similar reactions from the fraternity.

"May be that is the case because I am not worth it. Perhaps I don't deserve an appreciation", sighs Karan, "Or then it is due to sheer reason that we have lost that sense of brotherhood. We are no more the kind of friends and family that people used to be in the earlier times when my father made movies. All said and done, I will do what I know best. If any constructive feedback comes my way, I would be more than happy."
