Danish: BREAK KE BAAD is a collage work of every lovestory in Bollywood

Danish Aslam's directorial debut BREAK KE BAAD is said to be inspired from Imtiaz Ali's LOVE AAJ KAL. Like LOVE AAJ KAL, BREAK KE BAAD also deals with the concept of lovestory post break-up. However, director Danish has his own point to prove and says BREAK KE BAAD is different in lot many ways.

'Firstly BREAK KE BAAD story was written about 2-2 1/2 years ago, even before LOVE AAJ KAL released. Secondly BREAK KE BAAD is a collage work of LOVE AAJ KAL, DDLJ, DIL TOH PAAGAL HAI, WAKE UP SID, I HATE LUV STORYS, etc. It is similar to each & every love story that has ever been made in Bollywood. According to me all love stories are essentially the same. There is no major difference in them as far as the story goes because in all of them a boy will meet a girl, a man will meet a woman they will fall in love eventually, they will fall out of love or they will fall back in love. That is it. There will be a 50-100 different permutations combinations but that is the essence of every love story and that is my love story as well. It's not like in mine there is some war happening or some revolutionary path-breaking concept has come about, about a brand new love story,' says Danish.

He further adds, 'According to me the strength of a love story doesn't lie in the plot but in the characterization. If you invest in those characters the love story works, if you don't it doesn't. I do not remember the screenplay of DDLJ or LOVE AAJ KAL by heart. But I remember Rahul, Raj-Simran, Jai-Meera, I remember Geet from JAB WE MET. I don't remember each & every scene but the character stays with you. That is what I want to do with my film; I am selling Abhay & Aaliya in this film not the story, not the concept. Sure it's about the break-up which is new or has been attempted in LOVE AAJ KAL. I know there are elements which are going to be quite similar to LOVE AAJ KAL when you watch it. May be you've seen in some other film before or in a Hollywood film before but the characters are important & unique. These characters you have never seen before because they are my characters, we have created them, we have lived them. They are who they are; they are the selling points in the film. If you buy into Abhay & Aaliya you will surely buy into BREAK KE BAAD.'
