Kunal doesn't believe in BREAK KE BAAD's theme

Kunal Kohli is back and is donning the producer's hat this time around with BREAK KE BAAD. The film starring Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan, is based on taking a break in a relationship. But Kunal doesn't give believe in the concept.

"I don't believe in break in a relationship. I believe that you have to give space to each other. But I don't necessarily believe that a break or a break-up is necessary," states Kunal.

Speaking about how the film happened, Kunal says, "To begin with, I'm very glad BREAK KE BAAD happened. It's a very nice subject. It's a story waiting to be told. I'm glad we are telling this story. It's a very relevant story for today's time. At a time when relationships have become fragile and relationships are breaking up all around us, here's a film that believes in maintaining relationships. It talks to the youth in young language and tells, 'Hey, everything is not instant in life'. It's not about instant coffee and fast food."

Being a director himself, wasn't he tempted to direct BREAK KE BAAD? "No, I wasn't. It was Danish's idea and concept. So he should be the one directing it. I had full confidence in Danish. I had worked with him in two films and I was very sure of what he is sure of. So I had no hesitation in handing over the reigns of the film to him."

From its promos, BREAK KE BAAD is being compared to LOVE AAJ KAL. To this, Kunal clarifies, "BREAK KE BAAD is as different from LOVE AAJ KAL as HUM TUM is from FANAA. There is no similarity at all. That film was about the difference between the love today and the love then. This has got nothing to do with that. It's not about the comparison of love."

Taking about Deepika and Imran, Kunal says, "Deepika stays in my building, I have a very good equation with her. I've known Imran for a while now because I used to meet him in Aamir's house. Imran is definitely a youth icon and the future of the industry. We all got along very well during the making."

BREAK KE BAAD hits theatres on 26th November.
