Could BREAK KE BAAD have been salvaged?

It is pretty much known by now that BREAK KE BAAD has taken the lowest opening for a much anticipated romcom in the year 2010. When compared to Imran's own I HATE LUV STORYS and Ranbir Kapoor's ANJAANA ANJAANI, BREAK KE BAAD finds itself many steps behind.

However, the fact remains that BREAK KE BAAD was on shaky ground long before its release itself. In fact, it is surprising that the makers didn't quite catch the signals as there was no attempt being made to salvage the film's prospects.

There was anyways a strong deja vu of I HATE LUV STORYS that the film was carrying and post release when it was declared that the film wasn't even as interesting as the Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor affair (even that had found its fair share of criticism from the audience despite its hit tag), the writing was clear on the wall.

CHECK OUT: BREAK KE BAAD Movie Review

Disappointingly, BREAK KE BAAD is currently on a sloppy ground with its collections not even expected to do half of I HATE LUV STORYS or even ANJAANA ANJAANI, both of which had crossed the 40 crores mark. For Deepika Padukone, who has come up with her career best performance in BREAK KE BAAD, there is sttill something to look forward to immediately with her KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SE releasing on coming Friday.

As for the makers, Kunal Kohli would manage to smile due to good money being recovered from non-theatrical rights (satellite, music, home video). However, given the extensive release of the film, theatrically BREAK KE BAAD has turned out to be disappointing.
