Ramu: I don't like to watch family films

Looking at the way Ramu continues to be gung-ho about his RAKHT CHARITRA 2 and its important ingredient - violence, it seems that he is pretty much following the path of Hollywood film maker Quentin Tarantino who never makes any bones about excessive violence in his film. However, one does wonder that with such open declaration about RAKHT CHARITRA series, isn't Ramu alienating a huge segment of audience?

"I feel that in today's times, there isn't anything like a general audience," reasons Ramu, "Now look at me, I don't like to watch family films at all. However, there is one segment of audience which likes such films. Similarly, I am not into romcom but somewhere out there may not like my action films. This is why I would rather make films that satisfy one section of audience rather than diluting my subject matter to make it universally appealing."

One feels a tad surprised though when Ramu comments around not being a huge fan of romcoms. After all he is the creator of one of the most loved romcoms of all times, RANGEELA.

"And if you look at it, when I made RANGEELA , it's genre wasn't treated in the same manner as any of the earlier romcoms," Ramu brings on a smile here, "My treatment to the film bore a fundamental difference than the rest of such films. RANGEELA was very unique and didn't belong to one of those regular run of the mill romcoms. There was tremendous realism to it."

Starring Vivek Oberoi, Suriya and Shatrughan Sinha in principal roles, RAKHT CHARITRA 2 releases all over on 3rd December.
