What makes RAKHT CHARITRA a winner?

RAKHT CHARITRA may not have set the box office on fire. Well, at least in its Hindi version. Still, it is foolhardy to write obituaries for the film yet. Reasons are aplenty.

First and foremost is the fact that reviews coupled with word of mouth from audience (which likes watching violent sagas on the big screen) have been unanimously good. Ram Gopal Varma has delivered what he had promised (and promoted) and hence those with set expectations haven't been let down. This means that the film should stay on to be stable in days to come.

Secondly, the film is doing very well in its Telugu version which means a big chunk of investment would be recovered from there. Since the film's setting is Andhra Pradesh, this indeed was always the target audience for RAKHT CHARITRA which means that the Hindi version was always an added bonus.

Thirdly, and most importantly, the real story is yet to begin. The film's second part would be hitting the screens on 19th November and what makes it special is the fact that the Tamil version (a combination of first and the second part) features Suriya in the principal role. Now since he is a huge superstar down South, the film is being marketed in Tamil as a Suriya starrer with Vivek Oberoi as an added attraction. All of this means that there is a huge curiosity to watch RAKHT CHARITRA there. Meanwhile, those who have loved the first part can anyways be expected to flock the theaters once the second part releases.

The saying indeed holds good here - 'Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost'. Well, literally so!
