Abhimanyu Singh: Only anger & sex on Bukka's mind!

Rated amongst one of the most accomplished actors, Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh has worked with the likes of Mahesh Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra to name a few. Known for his intense and instinctive acting Abhimanyu has always managed to leave a mark even in the most forgettable films.

However if one thought that Anurag Kashyap's GULAAL would qualify amongst one of his most memorable work till date, they are mistaken as Abhimanyu has outshone himself in last week's release, the Ram Gopal Varma directed RAKHT CHARITRA. Critics and the audience are unanimous that his maniacal Bukka act is spine chilling and highly effective. The versatile actor spells the beans on what led to his signing the film and about his role in RAKHT CHARITRA.

Abhimnayu is frank enough to reveal that it was he who first approached RGV when he heard through a common friend that the director had shown his desire to meet him. During the meeting, Ramu praised Abhimanyu for his act in GULAAL and said that he has a film in mind and for that he would call Abhimanyu soon.

After almost three four months had passed Ramu called up Abhimanyu, related the story and also explained his role. Abhimanyu says that when Ramu related the story he could see the anger and rebellion in his eyes while talking about his character, which helped him a lot on the sets. He also divulges that his character Bukka is inspired from a real life character who was very violent and an alcoholic in real life and was always angry, and as per Ramu this person had just two things on mind, anger and sex. Abhimanyu also justifies the violent nature of his character saying that it was just vengeance which made Bukka the way he appears in the film and says that this is not a negative role, but it has grey shades and also goes on to say that most of the major leads have characters with grey shades in RAKHT CHARITRA.

Well, here's hoping that like GULAAL, RAKHT CHRITRA too works wonders for this wonderful actor so that we can savour more memorable performances from this talented actor.
