ANJAANA ANJAANI fortunate to enjoy solo release?

ANJAANA ANJAANI is a week away from release and would be enjoying the status of being a solo arrival. Also, since there is no notable release this Friday, it only works further for this Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer since by that time, audience would have had their share of DABANGG (which by the way is all set to break the first week record of 3 IDIOTS).

A safe distance of two weeks from DABANGG coupled with the fact that it is a solo release only seems to have worked in favour of ANJAANA ANJAANIwhich is carrying superb vibes. For this very reason, does Siddharth Anand, the film's director, too feel that he has been fortunate enough to arrive solo?

'I think timing of a film's release doesn't really matter actually', Siddharth throws a surprise here, 'If you look into the past, there have been quite a few big films that arrived solo and had a clear run for two months. Still, they didn't work.'

Extending his observation, Siddharth adds, 'The power lies with the product. If you have a good content in hand, your film will work regardless of it being a solo release or coming with another film. Look at TAARE ZAMEEN PAR; it worked despite releasing with WELCOME. LAGAAN and GADAR came together and so did DIL and GHAYAL. They were all blockbusters.'

He doesn't totally deny the fact that apt promotion coupled with good vibes have ensured ANJAANA ANJAANI to ensure a good perception amongst the audience. 'Thank God for that', he smiles, 'The film should open well due to these reasons and post that once the story connects and audience are entertained, it should start speaking for itself from Monday.'

Well, the golden run that the second half of 2011 is enjoying, we do hope that happens Siddharth.
