Yana Gupta: I didn't dare to copy Zeenat's style

The Babuji girl, Yana Gupta is back as Laila this time. As you might know, we're talking about the new version of Zeenat Aman's iconic song, Laila O Laila from QURBANI. It's a part of CHALO DILLI.

Says an ecstatic Yana, "I was extremely excited. It's a fantastic song and it's an honour to do Zeenatji's song. I loved the song and I'm sure people would love it too."

So did the original song make matters easy for Yana? "I saw the original video on the internet a few times. I saw Zeenatji's style. It was something that I didn't dare to copy. I have my own style and I have tried to do it my own way. This song is very different. It was quite a big deal for me. I am doing an item number after a very long time," said Yana.

Yana was well aware about the comparisons people would make. "I was sure about people comparing the two songs. But I didn't have to worry about that. I just had to give my best, which I did."

According to the pretty lady, remixes are a great way to connect with your childhood. She says, "Sometimes you just connect with a certain song. I would have loved to hear the songs from my childhood again and again. It makes you connect with your past."

CHALO DILLI stars Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak in lead roles and is slated to release on 29th May.
