Sanjay Gupta doesn't want to be aggressive

After ZINDA (2006), Sanjay Gupta had turned over aggressive. Due to the boom in the industry, he expanded his office, increased his staff base and launched 7-8 films. He is nonchalant about the fact that after a while he had to cut short his plans.

"But isn't that a practical reality", questions Gupta, "Look at any other corporate house as well. They announce a dozen odd films but only half get made. I at least completed those films that I brought on floors like PANKH, WOODSTOCK VILLA and THE GREAT INDIAN BUTTERFLY. Having said that I am not going to be aggressive in near future at least. I am better off going slow and do only those films that I really want to do."

One of the first steps that he has taken towards resurrection of his standing as a film maker is to shut shop on art house cinema.

"Yes, 'White Feather Art House Films' ceases to exist any more. I understand the kind of cinema audience expects from me and don't wish to take offbeat route in near future."

While he has a long term strategy in place, Sanjay is also going slow when it comes to giving break to new filmmakers. "First let me get my own film started which should be pretty soon", chuckles Sanjay before signing off.

With multiple options like KHOTE SIKKEY, sequel to SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA and a couple of more stories waiting to be picked up, looks like an announcement isn't too far away.
