Less than a week remains for the arrival of AARAKSHAN and the film's leading lady Deepika Padukone is all excited to check audience reactions for her first 'issue based' film. One wonders though whether there is a worry factor involved as well since AARAKSHAN deals with a rather dry subject of reservation which means those hunting for entertainment quotient may be left a tad dissatisfied.
"I guess it is futile to pass judgment before checking out what AARAKSHAN actually has to offer. In any case, if you look at my track record, I have done a number of such films which have been meaningful but then within commercial parameters. I am quite sure about my choices here," Deepika reasons, "A film can be entertaining even without those regular song and dance affairs. And let me add though that AARAKSHAN boasts of some amazing songs. Of course they are within the film's parameters and aren't out of place. As for a film to work, its overall content should be powerful."
CHECK OUT: It's Khan Mania for Deepika Padukone
So while she is understandably excited about her new film, last year was a mixed bag with HOUSEFULL doing very well, BREAK KE BAAD and LAFANGEY PARINDEY just about managing to sail through, KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK being just content with some critical appreciation but KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SE BHI turning out to be a commercial disaster. Was she fairly satisfied with the way the year went or was she left a tad disappointed?
"Of course I was disappointed with the box office outcome of some of my films; I sincerely believe they could have done much better. But then there is a silver lining as creatively it was all a very satisfying experience. I guess it is all okay; this is what keeps you going," says Deepika thoughtfully before signing off.
Well, one can well see Deepika pretty much happy about moving ahead, what with multiple exciting films like AARAKSHAN, DESI BOYZ and (tentatively titled) COCKTAIL lining up for her in quick succession.
