Prakash Jha: Cheque bouncing issue has nothing to do with AARAKSHAN

As Prakash Jha's much talked about film AARAKSHAN is nearing the release date controversies are making a line to the film. After The National Commission for Scheduled Castes controversy and also various political leaders having some reservations about the film, now Prakash Jha's AARAKSHAN is mired in the controversy of non-payment of dues worth (approx) Rs. 3.71 crores to the financers.

The Madras high court had issued an order putting AARAKSHAN release on hold till the above mentioned amount borrowed by the producers is returned to the financers. The court issued the order on a petition filed by Madhu Gupta and GG Photo Ltd, a Mumbai-based company. It is being said that the petitioners moved the court after the cheques issued by Nadiadwala bounced.

Judge V Periyakarupiah stayed the film's worldwide release till the amount was paid to the financers.

However, filmmaker Prakash Jha makes it clear that the cheque-bouncing issue has nothing to do with his film AARAKSHAN and the matter is between Mr. Feroze A. Nadiadwala and Mr. Sushil Gupta

Says Prakash Jha, "Prakash Jha Productions is the sole rights-holder of AARAKSHAN. All rights and authority regarding the business of AARAKSHAN are vested with Prakash Jha Productions. The cheque-bouncing issue is between Mr. Feroze A. Nadiadwala and Mr. Sushil Gupta. It has nothing to do with AARAKSHAN. Mr. Nadiadwala is sorting it out. AARAKSHAN will release worldwide on August 12th, as per schedule."

Confirming about the news Firoz A Nadiadwala in a statement says, "The Madras High Court order relates to a monetary transaction between me and Mr. Sushil Gupta of G.G. photo. As far as AARAKSHAN is concerned, Prakash Jha Productions has the sole rights to the film and complete authority and rights to deal with the business of the film. And Prakash Jha Productions has not entered into any arrangement with Mr. Sushil Gupta of G.G. photo. I am seized of the court order and am resolving the issue with Sushil Gupta."
