**Don't STANDBY, Lad Bapu, against censor's objection**

A lot of prominent films personalities have vent their anger in the past against the high handedness and double standards of the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) aka censor over the usage of some particular objectionable words in a song for quite a while now.

Right from BILLU to KAMINEY to PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, we have had some very glaring examples where for some reason or the other there have been many controversial words which have earned the censor's wrath. But the latest to come under the scanner is the most prominent and highly important song, Lad Bapu from the film STANDBY. And this is indeed laughable as the reason being given is that the two words 'lad' and 'bapu' are juxtaposed and since Bapu practiced non violence the song is actually not in the right spirit.

Why we call it laughable is that there is nothing violent about the song as it just talks about playing a game and fighting to win till the end. It does not encourage fighting or war. As they say , "Little knowledge is a dangerous thing" and it looks like it's the same case with the censors as they do not have much idea about the lyrics 'lad bapu'.

Well, we will explain. The song has been penned by none other than National Award winner, Swanand Kirkere. Says Swanand, "Lad Bapu is an expression in Marathi that cheers people on. It's about a Maharashtra team in a football match." So there we can't find anything wrong with that expression, it's actually a motivating and inspiring rather than objectionable.

The song Lad Bapu is actually the theme song of the film STAND BY which is about the lives of two footballers and their only passion, football. The song is being played across all leading entertainment channels and web portals and is being appreciated for its outstanding and highly inspirational lyrics . The film releases across the sub continent on August 26th.
