Sanjay Surkar: STAND BY is different from CHAK DE!

Though not so many, but still quite a few films have been made in Bollywood which are totally sports oriented. And since Shah Rukh Khan 's CHAK DE! INDIA was one such rare film that achieved significant accolades as well as commercial success, comparison with this Friday's impending release, STAND BY, is but natural for the layman who may not know much about the film.

However its director, four times national award winner Sanjay Surkar has a different view on the subject. Says Sanjay, 'CHAK DE is an inspiring film while my film deals with corruption in the system, CHAK DE was one man's battle to achieve excellence. I am absolutely open to criticism but are sports peg enough to compare my film with CHAK DE?'

Right said Sanjay. Moreover, for the information of our patrons, the plot and treatment of STAND BY are completely different from CHAK DE! INDIA and in no way can the two films be compared to one another. But the problem in the industry is that the people just tend to compare two films by just seeing their genre and type without taking into account the plot, treatment or even the merits and demerits of the concerned film(s).

Certainly, with just a day to go when STAND BY releases all over, the director Sanjay Surkar will surely be proved right and we do hope that the film emulates CHAK DE in terms of accolades and commercial gains!
