Mahakshay: Why shoot abroad unnecessarily & increase film budget?

Since time immemorial Indian filmmakers have been fascinated with shooting aboard at exotic and expensive locales, and the trend has off late only increased with almost every second film being shot outside India. Foreign governments too are doing their bit to lure Bollywood producers in order to promote tourism in their respective countries, like the recent UK subsidy to the tune of 20-25 crores of rupee to films like RA.ONE and DESI BOYZ which helped these films to sail through to profit zone.

However not everyone thinks alike and when we asked Mahakshay Chakraborty if his home production ENEMIES (co-starring his legendary father Mithun Chakraborty) will be shot abroad he said, ''No, first we are shooting in Hyderabad. A major portion of the film will be completed in Hyderabad. After that we will return to Mumbai.' He also added, 'There is no need to go abroad unnecessarily and increase the budget of the film. India has enough good and exotic locales.''

The same sentiments were echoed by a top trade analyst when we put forward our question and he said, ''Well, if we take into account the audience in B and C class centers many of them won't even recognize the London Bridge over the Hoogly Bridge, and exotic locales don't matter much. In the end it's a good tight script with a solid story that appeals to all and not just cinematography and foreign locations.''

Well, that is indeed true and we are sure that Mithun and Mahakshay will come up with a good script that will appeal to all.
