CNN IBN has nominated Amol Gupte as the Indian of the year, for being the most innovative and differentiated film director in the Hindi film industry. Amol Gupte's experimental films like STANLEY KA DABBA have captured the audience's heart.

Amol Gupte is a well known screen writer, movie maker and an educationalist. He has made a lot of movies dedicated to social causes like child labour. His current project PAPA is based on senior citizens, which highlights the three generations of men in a family and tries to capture their relationships.
