Farhan Akhtar: SRK knows Don better than before

DON 2 is up for release and it's time for some excitement amongst audience to check what the film is all about. While the sequel factor is indeed coming into play, with Shahrukh in a film audience does expect a certain charisma, especially so when the character is as vibrant as Don. One is tempted to ask the film's director Farhan Akhtar whether we indeed get to see that on display here all over again.

"Well, that's the magic that comes as a part of the package," smiles Farhan, "As a director you can give an actor space to perform and props to play around him. Ultimately though it boils down to the genius of an actor to create those magical moments and bring something phenomenal on the table. This is where Shahrukh has really excelled in DON 2 because he loves this character so much. He knows how this character thinks and is now pretty much at ease enacting him. This is the reason why he could bring in a lot of improvisation during the shoot as well."

While one waits to see Shahrukh's charisma, how about Farhan's own guess on the film's performance? After all, the franchise comes with great expectations and since he too is directing a film after five long years with Shahrukh's fans waiting to catch him in his elements after RA.ONE, there has been added curiosity around DON 2.

"Yes, of course I understand that there is a certain level of anticipation and expectation amongst the audience," says Farhan. "People have been waiting for the film to release for quite some time now. It is a rarity as well because this is one of those rare sequels that is coming after a gap of five years. However this isn't something that is weighing me down. On the contrary it is making it all the more exciting for me. Now it's time for D-Day," he added.

Well, we too are waiting for the D-Day that arrives this Friday.
