Farhan: DON 2 has the potential to get overly dramatic

Ever since the promotion of DON 2 began, there has been quite some emphasis on the action sequences. Now that the film has released all over, it is quite evident that Farhan was quite right in promoting this aspect of the film since action has turned out to be quite a highlight.

"Yes, DON 2 is inherently an action film and we were never shying away from promoting that," says Farhan, "Personally I love action films and always had this in mind to make a film that had liberal doses of action. I am very excited with the opportunity that I got to realise that dream since action forms a major part of DON 2. Having said that, as you can see that action here is not the kind which disrupts the film's narrative; it in fact takes the story forward. You don't see action just for the sake of thrills."

For the fans of DON though, just action was never going to be a full deal. After all, they are expected to look at some definitive drama at play as well and Farhan has made a conscious call to ensure that too in the sequel.

"See, every film has a fair share of drama and it depends upon the nature of the subject to decide it's proportion," he reflects, "There is a certain degree of drama in DON as well and it's there because it is really important. The onus was on us to decide till what level we could have taken the drama forward. If you look at the core of DON 2, it has the potential to get overly dramatic. We have played it all in a balanced manner though so that the film keeps you guessing about what would happen next."

Well, if the feedback that is already trickling in for DON 2 is any indication, you indeed made the right bet Farhan.
