Anees Bazmee: No place for vulgarity in my cinema

Comedy continues to be Anees Bazmee's poison, what with THANK YOU releasing before READY. Also, just around a couple of months back he had another comic release in NO PROBLEM. And before that Bazmee has made a career out of delivering three back to back hits - SINGH IS KINNG, WELCOME and NO ENTRY. Doesn't the director in him ever crave to make some serious cinema?

"But then who said that comedy isn't serious business," Bazmee questions back, "I do my job rather seriously. A film of mine may or may not work but then no one can say that I made a cheap or foohad comedy. Also, vulgarity doesn't have any place in my cinema. I don't believe in having any double meaning dialogues in my films."

It's the same approach that he expects from his actors as well and hence he tries as much as possible to keep his comedy situational rather than forced. While that didn't quite turn out to be right in NO PROBLEM, a film that was panned by one and all, he is quite sure that for Akshay Kumar's THANK YOU and Salman Khan starrer READY, there is much better response in store for him.

"I don't want that any of my actors are jumping up and down just on screen for the sake of it," Bazmee says, "Also, I don't want them to start making monkey faces for camera to entice laughter from audience. That seldom works. I want my actors do their job with sincerity and this is where Akshay and Salman come into picture. They are dead serious even when they have to do comic scenes."

While THANK YOU is slated for 8th April release, READY arrives on 3rd June.
