Karan Johar: Basic 'sur' of AGNEEPATH won't change

Released in 1990, AGNEEPATH was about a young boy Vijay who grew up to be a don (Amitabh Bachchan). To avenge his father's (Alok Nath) death, he first shakes hand with a powerful crime baron Kancha Cheena (Danny Denzongpa), only to destroy him in the end.

'Well, the remake has obviously been re-adapted and re-done so the setting is bound to go through a change', continues Karan, 'However the basic 'sur' of the film, the very enmity between Vijay and Kaancha and their struggle would remain intact. Ultimately it is the story of these two characters and the story boils down to their conflict.'

So while one waits to see Hrithik taking on Sanjay Dutt (rumoured to be playing the role of Kaancha Cheena), one waits with bated breath to check out of the famous 'Maut Ke Saath Appointment' scene at the police station remains intact. 'Do you want me to narrate the entire script of the film right away', laughs Karan when asked if he could confirm such scenes, 'Come on, better wait for it. Why to spoil all the fun?'

Fair point Karan, as long as the drama promises to unfold in its full glory.
