Sudhir Mishra miffed with Guy Ritchie comparisons?

Three weeks have gone by since the release of his biggest grosser till date, YEH SAALI ZINDAGI. Still, director Sudhir Mishra continues to receive compliments around how he has reinvented a narrative style in Bollywood cinema, something which follows the noir genre as mastered by Guy Ritchie. While he doesn't mind comparisons being made, Sudhir is puzzled about how a narrative can be attributed to just Ritchie alone when he has been around the scene for a good quarter of a century and has constantly looked at innovation in story telling techniques.

"Really, I don't know about Guy Ritchie, his film making technique and all", says Mishra who tries to keep his compose even though he is visibly uncomfortable with constant comparisons, "I made ISS RAAT KI SUBAH NAHI way back in 1997. I hadn't seen much of Guy Ritchie then. I confront life and then do story telling accordingly. I am not consciously trying to ape anyone."

Nevertheless he is happy that audience has accepted him as a film maker and after the critical success coming his way through films like HAZARON KHWAISHEN AISI and DHARAVI, he is getting commercial backing as well. This is the reason why he is working with some of the top names in his upcoming films though Chitrangda Singh stays on to be a constant fixture in each of his films.

"Of course I am enjoying the phase that I am going through", says Mishra, "I make films which are human stories and aspire to connect to the audience. My upcoming films would be following the same mode as well, including THE NAWAB THE NAUTCH GIRL & THE JOHN'S COMPANY. In fact going by the response to YEH SAALI ZINDAGI, you would see the change in my story telling approach in my forthcoming films as well. Ek touch toh dikhega hi."

We won't mind that at all Sudhir.
