'Desi kudi' Kangna was always confident of winning!

Kangna Ranaut, a true blue hill girl from the picturesque Manali town, situated in the valley of gods, Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), has always been rooted to her 'desi' origin. But call it luck or co-incidence, Kangna has more often than not essayed the character of a modern girl attired in western dresses. However in last Friday's release, TANU WEDS MANU, Kangna has quite confidently essayed an earthy character, that of Tanuja Trivedi aka Tanu, who hails from Kanpur, a small town of Uttar Pradesh.

In fact at a press conference just before TANU WEDS MANU released, briefing about her role, Kangna had said that her character in the film was very fun loving, over the top, carefree but at the same time intelligent and smart as well. She had added that it was the first time that she had worn totally ethnic dresses like traditional 'salwar-kameez' complete with Indian jewellry like bangles and other Indian accessories. She had also stated that her ethnic look was specially designed keeping her character in mind and that she was very confident that the audience would accept her in her 'desi' avatar.

Well, we must give it to Kangana , her confidence and more importantly her conviction because despite the ICC World Cup, TANU WEDS MANU has a bountiful weekend to show (11-11.50 crore) and is on way to be the third clear success/hit of the year after YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA and NO ONE KILLED JESSICA.
