Sas-Damad Dimple-Akshay team up for PATIALA HOUSE

Akshay Kumar's first release in 2011 is with no other than Anushka Sharma of BAND BAAJA BAARAAT fame.

What's interesting that for the first time, PATIALA HOUSE brings together of a real life family jodi Akshay Kumar and Dimple Kapadia on celluloid.

PATIALA HOUSE is the story of a Sikh joint family. Four generations of the Kahlon family live together, in a suburban house in London. When one first hears PATIALA HOUSE you connect Akshay Kumar and a large family of Sikhs living under one roof. In fact it is so different from the films that Akshay Kumar is associated with that it has become imperative to put the title in context with the film and not vice versa.

Patiala means big (often used to signify Patiala peg by whiskey drinkers.) In our case it signifies a fourth generation Sikh household in Southall, London, UK. A house with 22 members both young and old ruled by an autocratic and big headed Gurtej Singh Kahlon (Rishi Kapoor.) A house where the disparity in thought between the younger and older generation has reached a simmering boiling point and mutiny, rebellion is round the corner. How a 34-year-old ex cricketer who has been forced to sacrifice his dreams for his fathers ideals is given a second chance to see it getting fulfilled.

Say both the producers Mukesh Talreja and Bhushan Kumar, "We feel that this is a film that every Indian will be able to identify with, as almost all Indians at some point have the experience of living in a joint family. PATIALA HOUSE is a full entertainer with all the ingredients of a family entertainer thrown in."

Says Director Nikhil Advani, "The essence of PATIALA HOUSE is pursuing your dream when life gives you a second chance. In this pursuit, Akshay happens to be a cricketer, but he could've been a musician or a poet. It can be your story or mine. PATIALA HOUSEis the story of the Kahlon family, and their travails."

PATIALA HOUSE releases on the 11th of February.
