The nation hasn't forgotten the 26/11 tragedy. And there are scenes being written in films which aren't allowing that to happen either. The last place where one would have expected the incident to be reminded of was a romcom like DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI. However this is what is happening in this Madhur Bhandarkar affair where there is a clear reference being made to Kasab. The makers suggest though that it is all in good jest.
Says a senior crew member, "Yes, we are calling out the name Kasab in the film but before you jump to any conclusion, please understand all the facts. Kasab is the name of a dog here and what better way would have been to demean and humiliate a terrorist like this by calling him out as a dog. In fact the team of DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI should be appreciated that in it's own sweet manner, they are giving out a message loud and clear. People like Kasabs are dogs and this is how they should eventually die as well."
CHECK OUT: Madhur works his style
In the film, this dog is named as Kasab by Emraan Hashmi. Though Emraan Hashmi was unavailable for comment, Madhur Bhandarkar too was a little reluctant to respond to this 'issue'.
"Can you first explain to me what exactly is the issue here", questions Bhandarkar in a stern tone, "Why does it happen to film makers time and again that anything, whether small or big, is turned into an unnecessary controversy without checking facts? DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI isn't a film that remotely touches upon the India-Pakistan issue or what happened in and around 26/11. It is a romcom for heaven's sake. All we have is a simple scene where a dog is being ridiculed by calling it as Kasab. There was and is no intention to open any wounds. I am sure audience is intelligent enough to understand the joke here."
We hope so Madhur while keeping fingers crossed for the D day i.e. 28th January when the film arrives.
