American Indian director Amit to make BLEMISHED LIGHT

| Amit Kumar, an American Indian director is making a film called BLEMISHED LIGHT. The film will see Victor Bannerjee playing the lead role.
Says Amit, 'The story of BLEMISHED LIGHT developed from a desire to express the lack of freedom within, and the struggle against, the most dominating social structures of our time - Capitalism and Patriarchy. In our world, mass extermination and discrimination happen in the name of 'identity'. I took up the task in BLEMISHED LIGHT to show that people considered as 'belonging' to a certain identity do have different perspectives, approaches and solutions to most pressing issues challenging their society, based on their own personal experiences,'
He further adds, 'The title BLEMISHED LIGHT comes from transliteration of Faiz Ahmad Faiz poem 'Ye Dagh Dagh Ujala Ye Shab Ghazida Sahar'.
Speaking about choosing Victor Banerjee, he says, 'Victor Banerjee obviously has a screen presence, and he is a perfect fit for the role, but what excites me, as well as what seems to have driven him to play this part is the opportunity to perform as a character he has not played before. After reading the script, Victor Banerjee was immediately charged up to do the film. I feel it is important to get talented actors with a screen presence and perfect fit for a role, but it is equally important to get people on board who understand the value of our project based on the authenticity and the power of its message, not because of the money involved or the studios attached.'
Speaking about choosing the other cast he said, 'Alyy Khan and Ankur Vikal also showed immediate enthusiasm about the script. Bhanu Uday who plays a central character has been preparing for this role for over three months now. This kind of commitment to, and faith in, the project is what inspired me to make decisions in favor of the cast I have selected.'
