Prakash Jha on AARAKSHAN: I was bound to rope top superstars

Though Prakash Jha had earlier formed a professional liaison with Ajay Devgn in quite a few back to back films, today the writer-director seems to be quite fascinated with the idea of being in charge of multi starrer set ups, what with AARAKSHAN following RAAJNEETI. One wonders whether this is a conscious move.

"It is something quite basic actually," comments Jha in a nonchalant tone, "When you are making a commercial film within commercial arena, you are bound to rope in top superstars in order to ensure maximum visibility, isn't it?" This is what led to Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone ending up sharing the same frame for the film which is gradually building up heat.

Meanwhile Manoj Bajpai, who is not quite a superstar but is a brilliant actor no less, is fast turning out to be a favorite with Jha as well. After RAAJNEETI, he has been repeated by the director in AARAKSHAN for a pivotal part. Can one expect that yet again, there would be a cry of karaara jawaab milega from Manoj to all his detractors?

CHECK OUT: Prakash Jha's AARAKSHAN took 5 years in writing

"Ekdum se karaara jawaab milega aur aap dekhna, sach mein kamaal ho jaayega," laughs Jha who has made AARAKSHAN as a set up where Bachchan Sr. and Bajpai get into a face-off of sorts, "Manoj is an extremely fine actor and whatever role that he takes up, he does it tremendously and with full conviction. In AARAKSHAN, his character is someone who represents the corrupt educational system."

Now that the film is getting ready for release, it is quite apparent that Jha has successfully created a niche for himself. For someone who started three decades ago with an unassuming HIP HIP HURRAY, this indeed seems like a brilliant position for him to be in, isn't it?

"Well, ab main apne moonh se toh kuch nahi keh sakta naa," smiles Jha, "All I can do is just think about a film, work hard on it and try to talk about it. Whether I have created a niche for myself or not is something for you to say, not me."
