Prakash Jha: One has to work within commercial constraints

There are quite a few critics as well as fans of director, Prakash Jha, who have criticized him for shifting away from his old style of film making and not making thought provoking films like DAMUL and MRITYUDAND anymore. When questioned by the media, Jha's answer was very logical and well balanced and he immediately questioned back asking as to who is making such films nowadays and stated that everyone has to work within a commercial set up.

Explaining his position he added that in the present scenario, everyone has to change and work within commercial constraints, as film making too has undergone a sea change and the revolution of parallel cinema is almost over.

Prakash Jha puts forward his point further by giving an example whereby he revealed that in his critically acclaimed film MRITYUDAND, he had already signed Pallavi Joshi, a highly talented actress, to essay the lead role but keeping the economics and returns in mind he had to drop the idea and sign Madhuri Dixit instead. Jha was also thankful that despite all the commercial constraints and economic factors, he is still able to make films that he believes in and gets to tell his stories the way he wants and likes.

Well, Jha has definitely put across his point loud and clear and we are sure that after RAAJNEETI and now with AARAKSHAN he will prove his mettle further.
